Working Out in Cote d'Ivoire
Here are a few shots of fellows working out in one of Abidjan's gyms. Note that there isn't any air conditioning, even though the temperature is around 90 F. While some of the equipment is of a sort you'd find in an American gym, the use of flywheels instead of regular weight plates obviously isn't. Some of the bodybuilders in the ABBCI (Association de Bodybuilding de Cote d'Ivoire) work out in their backyards or garages. There are one or two modern, very well-equipoped gyms in Abidjan, but they are financially out of reach of most of the country's bodybuilders. And when it comes to protein supplements and such, these just don't come into the picture because they are much too costly.
